Ballot papers for 2016 Uganda Elections arrive

About 16 million ballot papers arrived in the Uganda amidst tight security less than 3 weeks ahead of the February 18 general elections.

The presidential and parliamentary ballot papers were printed by Ms Pearl Media Company in South Africa and they touched town at Entebbe International airport at about 1pm aboard Ethiopian Airways.

Addressing a news conference shortly after the arrival,  the chairperson of the commission, Engineer Badru Kiggundu said political parties and candidates were asked to send representatives to witness the offloading of the materials at the commission’s warehouse in Banda ensure transparency in the process.

Kiggundu also noted that the pellets containing the ballot papers will only be unpacked on the polling day in the presence of agents representing all candidates at the various polling stations.
