Kyambogo University Decides Tomorrow On Guild President

Kyambogo Guild presidents on the launch of the open campaigns

As the new arrangements by the Kyambogo University Electoral Commission, students are set to exercise their rights to vote for the guild president on Tuesday March 21, 2017.

After the failure of the E-voting system which was applied at first, consultations were made as according to the Dean of students.

There are eight candidates in the race; Sarah Kansiime, Michael Ashaba, Patricia Kasemeire, Simon Opio, Denis Odong, Rodgers Aliga and Joseph Ochieng

According to the Chairman Electoral Commission, Joseph Ssempagala, they are to use all the two systems to conduct this election as Ballots for voting and E-voting system for verification.

“I am very clear this time that we shall apply all the two systems for purposes of accuracy and transparency however for the Hall chairpersons it will be strictly E-voting since the numbers are few,” Ssempagala told Campus Times on phone.

However, students threaten to strike if any inconveniences and constraints are detected this time round.

“We have given the EC enough time to prepare, if anything happens this time then they will face the worst disaster,” assured Osbert Mwijukye, a third year student of Education

Students are requested to come with the University Identity Cards or for the First years to present any University document with a stamp and a photo of the owner.
