Rakai Health Sciences Program is a collaborative Bio-medical research and service delivery organization. It strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a combination of community based research, curative services and prevention strategies in the district of Rakai, South Western Uganda. It is based at Kalisizo in Kyotera District and Kampala.

The Program is seeking to strengthen its staffing position to efficiently execute its research and service activities. Applications are therefore invited from qualified and competent Ugandans to fill a vacant position based at Rakai Health Sciences Program- Kalisizo, Kyotera district as indicated below:

POSITION: HIV Care and Treatment Officer (1 Position)
Reporting to: Regional Manager HIV Care and Treatment
Duty station: Kalisizo – Rakai

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide support supervision and hands on mentorship in the areas of PMTC, TB/HIV, Pediatric and adult HIV treatment
  • Identify training gaps and recommend appropriate action
  • Monitor implementation of services and ensure delivery of quality services.
  • Make monthly and quarterly service reports
  • Train and mentor health providers

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Diploma in Clinical medicine or Comprehensive nursing.
  • Minimum 3years experience in implementation of comprehensive HIV care and treatment program in a DLP setting.
  • To qualify to work with RHSP, one must own a degree of integrity with reasonable work ethics
  • Experience in provision of CQI is an added advantage
  • Experience in health worker capacity building through trainings and mentorships
  • willingness to work in rural areas and execute work with minimal or no supervision and remain accountable.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and meet priorities
