Job Description
MAIN  PURPOSE  OF  THE  JOB:

Provide  legal  services  to  support  business  operations  in  accordance  with  company’s  policies,  procedures

and  the  law.

DUTIES  AND  RESPONSIBILITIES:

1  Provide  legal  services  to  Pride  in  a  timely  manner  and  ensure  that  business  operations  are  within  the  established  laws.
•  Review  and  draft  loan  documents,  mortgages,  powers  of  attorney,  and  other  loan  and  security  documents  for  all  Pride’s  products.

•  Search  and  verify  registered  collateral  presented  by  clients;  e.g.  land  titles  and  log  books  prior  to  accessing  loans,  to  ensure  protection  of  Pride’s  interest.

•  Ensure  the  timely  registration  of  caveats,  mortgages,  debentures  etc  in  favor  of  Pride.

•  Execute/witness  legal  documents  on  behalf  of  Pride  to  make  them  legally  binding  in  a  timely  manner.
•  Review  and  follow  up  on  new  laws  to  ensure  that  Pride  is  up-to-date  and  in  compliance.

•  Peruse  staff  loan/advance  files  for  completeness  and  accuracy.

2.Handle  litigation  matters  of  Pride.

•  Represent  Pride’s  interest  in  the  courts  of  law  and  other  fora.

•  Liaise  with  Pride’s  external  lawyers  on  both  routine  and  non-routine  legal  matters.

•  Oversee,  the  maintenance  and  updating  of  the  registers  in  the  department  e.g.  titles’  register,keys  register,  searches  register  etc

3.Assist  in  recovery  of  written  off  and  bad  loans.

•  Co-ordinate  the  recovery  of  bad  loans,  non  performing  and  written  off  loans  through  the  Debt  Collection  Officers  and  external  debt  collectors  including  assigning  cases  to  Debt  Collectors  for  recovery  and  getting  monthly  reports  from  them.

•  Ensure  the  release  of  the  security  to  the  clients  upon  completion  of  the  loan.

•  Preparation  of  periodic  reports.

JOB  SPECIFICATION:  Qualification
•  Bachelor  of  Law  and  Diploma  in  Legal  Practice

•  Two  Principal  passes  at  A  ‘Level

•  Credits  in  Mathematics  and  English  at  O’  Level

•  Postgraduate  qualification  in  laws/  business  finance  is  an  added  advantage

Experience

At  least  2  years  experience  with  a  valid  practicing  certificate
