The Institute of Internal Auditors Uganda is affiliated to the Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. with its headquarters in USA Florida. It was formed in 2002 by Internal Audit practitioners as an Association and thereafter incorporated as a company limited by guarantee on 23 December 2008.

Job Summary:  The Manager, Business Development runs the day to day activities of the Secretariat and growth of the Institute. The incumbent maintains member/stakeholder satisfaction by providing problem-solving approaches. Responsible for overseeing member/stakeholder service and ensuring the Institute delivers the highest level of customer service possible. In liaison with institute accountant, takes note of members who owe money from overdue bills and negotiates payment. The role holder shall be responsible for overseeing the relationship with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) membership/stakeholders including delivering exceptional service experience and shall ensure IIA consistently delivers the highest level of membership/stakeholder value preposition possible and grows IIA membership. The role holder shall augment membership/stakeholder satisfaction and experience by providing responsive problem-solving approaches to membership/stakeholder needs and feedback. The role holder shall in collaboration with the Accounts Assistant, ensure timely billing and collection of member dues.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • The role holder shall be responsible for overseeing member service delivery and shall ensure the Institute delivers the highest level of customer service possible;
  • Oversee member issues and ensure effective, responsive and long-term problem resolution;
  • Will be responsible for website management; including timely updating of the website in liaison with the host;
  • Work closely with the management team to align customer service policies and systems with the Institute’s objectives;
  • Review and evaluate members’ application in liaison with the membership committee;
  • Maintain a robust and up to date membership database and ensure timely communication with the membership;
  • In liaison with the finance and administration manager, ensure members are promptly billed and dues are collected;
  • The role holder shall maintain a robust training programme to ensure that the institute provides timely, relevant trainings to the membership;
  • Coordinate and facilitate training in liaison with training committee;
  • Schedule and coordinate meetings of the institute;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Secretary.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, public relations or any relevant undergraduate course from a recognized institute of higher learning;
  • Professional qualifications would be an added advantage. For example, Business Relationship Management Professional (BRMP®), Certified Business Relationship Manager (CBRM®); OR a  relevant master’s degree will be an added advantage.
  • Previous experience working in sales, or as a client relationship manager, or a track record of managing client relationships.
  • Planning: an ability to think ahead, anticipate and timely resolve the needs of the diverse membership;
  • Management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities;
  • Customer service systems development and deployment;
  • Data analytics, problem analysis and resolution (ability to effectively identify and eliminate problems);
