UTAMU which started out with only two Schools; the School of Computing and Engineering and the School of Business and Management, today boasts of four schools including the Graduate School as well as the Professional and Vocational School.

As a pace setter specifically in areas of ICT and Management, UTAMU not only doubled its student numbers but also strategically nurtured numerous partnerships with both local and international institutions.

Also one of its strong suits is Public–Private Partnership Initiatives that saw the birth of the 1st International Conference of Technology and Management, ICTM-14 with the Vice President of Uganda as Chief Guest. UTAMU has also been at the forefront of E-Governance and vocational training especially for small business owners. A case in point, the Jua Kali under Uganda Technical and Information Technicians Association( UTITA).

With 37 Universities and various vocational institutions in Uganda, graduates continue to flood the market compounding escalating unemployment which explains why UTAMU’s prime purpose in the last 2 years has been to engage students in community engagement, vocational and professional training to enhance skills on the global market.

Through innovation, numerous cutting-edge mobile Applications have been developed in the health, education, agricultural, tourism and security sectors among others.

Given the success stories from the 1st batch of UTAMU students placed in various organizations to undertake community engagement, it is safe to say, UTAMU is indeed set for big things.

As the UTAMU community commemorates the 2nd anniversary, there is no doubt that staff have set their sights higher in their pursuit of the University’s mandate of providing global education, research and innovation and contributing towards nation building.
