White House Maker Faire to support student entrepreneurs

The White House has announced its first ever White House Maker Faire, a new effort to provide more students and entrepreneurs access to the tools, spaces, and mentors needed to bring their ideas to fruition.

By democratizing the tools and skills necessary to design and make just about anything, Maker Faires and similar events can inspire more people to become entrepreneurs and to pursue careers in design, advanced manufacturing, and the related fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

There are a variety of ways universities and students can get involved, so please do read the White House blog post and application instructions here – http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2014/02/03/announcing-first-white-house-maker-faire.

University students are encouraged to apply, and as of right now, there is no stated application deadline. If you do apply, please do let the ResilientAfrica Network (RAN) team know so we can provide you with additional information and follow up on your application.
