The Ministry of Health of Uganda has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Aster DM Healthcare to receive a fully equipped mobile medical clinic, in a move aimed at improving access to healthcare in underserved areas.

The MoU, announced by the Consulate General of the Republic of Uganda in Dubai on June 4, 2025, formalizes Aster DM Healthcare’s donation of a custom-built mobile unit designed to deliver primary healthcare services to remote communities across the country.

Aster DM Healthcare is one of the largest integrated healthcare providers in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The organization operates hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and digital health platforms, and has established a reputation for providing affordable, quality care through regional and international partnerships.

The mobile clinic, currently under construction in India, is expected to arrive in Uganda within three months. It will be fitted with diagnostic and treatment facilities to serve rural populations that often lack access to reliable health services.

The official signing ceremony will be held in Kampala and will feature senior officials from Uganda’s Ministry of Health and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, alongside representatives from Aster DM Healthcare and other key stakeholders.

“This mobile clinic will significantly enhance our ability to reach communities in need,” a Ministry of Health official said during the announcement. “It reflects a shared commitment to health equity and innovation in service delivery.”

The partnership also paves the way for further collaboration between Uganda and Aster DM Healthcare. Future initiatives include sending medical professionals from the UAE to work alongside Ugandan teams, conducting specialist outreach programs, and supporting capacity-building and knowledge exchange.

The agreement is part of a growing effort to strengthen Uganda’s health infrastructure through international cooperation and investment in mobile and community-based care solutions.
