Yesterday 14th April Uganda confirmed one more Covid 19 case making Uganda’s total cases 55. The new case is of a 38 year old Ugandan cargo driver who tested positive on arrival from Kenya.
A statement from Ministry of Health indicate that the victim entered Uganda through Malaba and showed no signs of Covid 19. Two cases were identified but one is of a cargo driver who is a Kenyan national therefore could be added on the Ugandan cases.
Preparations are underway to have him take back to his home country.
To avoid further spread of corona virus, the President of Uganda extended lock down by 21 days. He however exempted cargo drivers and their turn boys coming in the country on condition that they all get tested on the border before entering the country.
These will not be allowed to mix with the locals or loiter around but head directly to their destination. Cargo planes will have only crew members and will be accommodated in specific hotels.
Uganda’s Covid 19 cases stand at 55, with 8 people discharged and 47 active cases.
Lets stay home and stay safe.
