Job Title:       Database Administrator (No Experience Career Jobs)

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Job Ref: Graduate Recruitment Exercise (GRE)

Reports to: Senior Database Administrator

Key Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Database Administrator for performing the following duties:-

  • Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act;
  • Writing Database documents, including data standard procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (‘Metadata’);
  • Monitoring database performance, tuning and problem solution;
  • Reorganizing data structures as needed and initiating vendor support;
  • Attending to users’ access requirements and resolving their problems;
  • Developing and applying procedures relating to database and application security;
  • Monitoring and running end of day operations;
  • Providing assistance in database design, and standards and recommend optimal criteria;
  • Adhering to professional Code of Conduct and Ethics;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology; or Information Science / Systems; or Computer Science; or Information Science from a recognized University/Institution.

Competencies:

  • Ethics and integrity; interpersonal, communication and computer skills;
  • Proven ability to adapt to multi-cultural settings;
  • Effective organizational and planning skills; time management skills; technical skills;
  • Good report writing skills;
  • Good negotiation skills;
  • Capacity for teamwork;
  • High degree of innovation and concern for results, quality and standards.

  • If you already have an account, simply sign in and update your profile.
  • Click on Jobs then Advertised Jobs in the menu. Select the Advert to view the jobs therein.
  • Click on the job from the list of advertised jobs.
  • View the job details and click apply.
  • Review your application and submit.
  • You can only apply for one (1) post. Applying for more than one (1) post will lead to automatic disqualification.

Emphasis: –

  • Candidates shortlisted for Interviews will be contacted.
  • Candidates shortlisted for Oral Interviews shall be required to bring along with them copies of original academic documents (O and A level Certificates, Degree Transcripts and Certificates) and a Valid Identity Card.
  • Serving Officers already appointed in the Public Service shall not be considered for entry level posts under this GRE advert;
