The African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) is a not for profit, networking alliance and service organization that brings together field epidemiology training programs (FETPs) across Africa working side by side with Ministries of Health, regional and international partners. AFENET works to strengthen epidemiology and disease surveillance capabilities of African countries that are critical to meeting the requirements of the lntegrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) strategy and the international Health Regulations (IHR).
We look forward to fill the three positions with highly qualified and experienced persons. The recruitment shall be done by AFENET through this advert as well as secondment of the suitable and qualified personnel to the Ministry of Health.

Job summary
The Job will involve design, development, implementation and management of information systems and ensuring that information can be accessed whenever needed to support program requirements for patient care. The Job will also involve databases administration, statistical data analysis / bioinformatics, reporting and automation of standard reports..

Essential Functions
• Perform Systems Requirements Specifications (SR5) and Analysis to define the requirements of new and improved health information systems, while ensuring robust performance and information security
• Stay current on all new developments in programs, operations, guidelines and policies in the areas relevant to laboratory information systems to ensure that developed solutions are relevant to current trends.
• Work closely with the UNHLS lab, programs and other technical teams to design and develop information system solutions to support the organization activities.
• Work closely with lCT Manager, and software development team to convert user requirements into application system modules
• Identify methods for automating data management tasks and reporting
• Manage UNHLS-supported health information systems and databases
• Develop methods to integrate systems and data exchange.
• Provide timely statistical analysis support to programs, research and quality management teams and present information in a clear and concise manner

Educational Requirements
A Bachelor‘s Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Business Computing, Mathematics, Health lnformatics, or any other related field. A Master’s at Science in informatics will be an added advantage. A Certification in any related area of the job requirements is an added advantage. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a related position.

Essential Skills
• He/she should have a passion for data analysis with good knowledge of the basic statistical concepts.
• Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills along with strong organizational and researching skills will be of great help.
• He/she should have good communication skills, to be able to work with a diverse range of people and interact with all levels at staff and management.
• He/she should be well versed with programing languages such as Java, PHP, Python for software development and information systems management
