The Ministry of Health has dismissed reports circulating on social media suggesting a resurgence of COVID-19 in Uganda, calling them false and misleading.
In a statement issued on June 11, 2025, the Ministry clarified that the messages being shared are outdated video clips reused by individuals aiming to spread misinformation.
“There is no resurgence of COVID-19 in Uganda, and the national situation remains stable and fully under control,” the statement read in part.
Officials emphasized that since the end of the major outbreak three years ago, the Ministry has maintained consistent surveillance and rapid response systems to monitor any new developments.
The Ministry acknowledged the emergence of new COVID-19 strains globally and assured the public that it is working with relevant stakeholders to safeguard public health.
“Uganda continues to benefit from a strong surveillance and response system, which has been built over time and remains fully active and capable of detecting and addressing public health threats,” the Ministry stated.
Citizens experiencing flu-like symptoms are advised to seek immediate medical care at the nearest health facility for proper diagnosis and treatment.
The Ministry urged the public to remain vigilant and continue practicing good hygiene, including regular handwashing with soap or using alcohol-based sanitizers.
