Preventive Measures Against the Spread of Corona Virus
According to WHO, the best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the COVID-19 virus; the disease it causes and how it spreads.
WHO says people have to protect themselves and others from infection by washing their hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching your face.
Since COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, it’s important that you also practice respiratory etiquette (for example, by coughing into a flexed elbow). Also read: How Corona Virus is Spread
WHO notes that there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19 at the time. However, there are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments.
WHO has promised to continue to provide updated information as soon as clinical findings become available.
Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread according to World Health Organisation (WHO) include:
- Regular hand washing
- Covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing
- Thoroughly cooking meat and eggs.
- Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing
