Hundreds of Muslims turned up for the Eid al Fitr prayers at the Islamic university in Uganda (IUIU) main campus, Mbale.
Congregants including students, staff, and members of the public started arriving at 7: 00 am at the IUIU playground amidst high security to ensure the safety of everyone. The prayers started at 8:00 am with a speech from the vice rector in charge of finance prof. Abdul Kaziba Mpata delivered a message from the Rector.
In his speech, Prof Abdul thanked Allah for enabling Muslims to celebrate Eid Fitr and congratulated the congregants and the whole Muslim ummah for having fasted and completed the holy month of Ramadhan. ‘’ I want to encourage all of you to give zakat al Fitr to our brothers and sisters who are in need to enable them to enjoy this day’’
The rector also informed the public about the excellent performance of IUIU students at the bar course of the Law Development Centre (LDC) in the recently concluded certificate exams required by lawyers to legally practice the profession in Uganda after their bachelor’s degree course.
‘’IUIU is committed to enhancing scientific courses at IUIU and the faculty of agriculture is coming very soon at IUIU the faculty of engineering is in process.’’ He added.
