Job Title: Principal Medical Officer
Job Summary: The Principal Medical Officer will primarily offer effective and efficient health services in the Hospital and ensure management of the unit.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Planning, budgeting, directing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating health services delivery especially for the Hospital.
- Managing and accounting for allocated resources;
- Participating in diagnostic treatment and proper management of patients;
- Establishing and strengthening health information management system;
- Liaising with his/her senior in the implementation of the Uganda Minimum Health Care Package;
- Requisitioning for equipment, drugs and other supplies for the hospital;
- Ensuring that equipment is secure, safe, functional and well maintained;
- Ensuring that appropriate development and maintenance of health units and facilities;
- Ensuring conformity to established quality assurance standards;
- Initiating and participating in research activities;
- Imparting knowledge and skills to students and staff;
- Ensuring that staff adhere to professional Code of Conduct and Ethics;
- Conducting human resource management activities like identifying manpower needs, training, promotional level and deployment;
- Compiling and submitting periodic reports
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The candidate should hold an M.B.Ch.B or its equivalent from a recognized University/Institution.
- A postgraduate Diploma in health related discipline or management from a recognized institution.
- The applicant must be registered and licensed with/by the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council.
- Good working knowledge of the health services management for at leasts years, three of which should be at the level of Senior Medical Officer in government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organisation.
Age: 25 years and above
