His Royal Highness William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, the Kyabazinga of Busoga, has graduated with a Master of Advanced Studies in Global Affairs from Yale University’s Jackson School of Global Affairs.

The ceremony took place on May 19, marking a historic milestone in the life of the monarch and earning admiration from across the Busoga region and beyond.

The Kyabazinga was awarded a full-board, merit-based scholarship, placing him among a select group of global leaders who have studied at Yale, including Nelson Mandela, Bill Clinton, and U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance.

Leaders from Busoga hailed the achievement as a symbol of visionary leadership and dedication to education.

“This degree will undoubtedly amplify His Majesty’s impact on critical issues such as combating malaria, addressing teenage pregnancies, and fighting hydrocephalus,” said Ms. Yudaya Babirye, the Minister for Kyabazinga Affairs.

The Kyabazinga has consistently shown commitment to education. He previously obtained a Master of Business Administration from Coventry University in the UK and is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Portsmouth.

Prince Wanume Paul, a lecturer at Uganda Management Institute, commended the monarch’s academic path. “His commitment to education proves that knowledge knows no bounds of status or title,” he stated.

Cultural leaders have also celebrated the achievement, noting its potential to influence the youth. “He has set the education tone for his subjects and other young people, showing the importance of hard work and dedication to learning,” said one leader from Busoga.

“This academic milestone is a tribute to the enduring spirit of the people of Busoga, our culture, and your faith in leadership rooted in wisdom and service,” said the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV. “I carry your hopes with me into every hall and every dialogue. May this be a symbol of what is possible for our future generations.”

The Kyabazinga’s academic journey underscores the importance of merging tradition with global thought leadership. His example continues to inspire hope, progress, and education-driven transformation in Uganda and beyond.
