Makerere University has opened applications for its privately sponsored undergraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic year, targeting Ugandan, East African, and international ‘A’ Level leavers.
The Academic Registrar announced that eligible applicants must have at least five passes at Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent and two principal passes at Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) obtained in one sitting.
Only candidates who sat their A’ Level in 2024, 2023, or 2022 are eligible to apply for day programmes. However, there is no restriction on the year of A’ Level completion for applicants to evening, afternoon, or external programmes.
Applications officially opened on Wednesday, 16th April 2025, and detailed admission requirements, programme options, and the weighting system are available on the university website at www.mak.ac.ug or at the Undergraduate Admissions Office, Level 3, Senate Building.
The application fee is UGX 50,000 for Ugandan, East African, and South Sudanese applicants, and USD 75 (or equivalent) for international applicants. All payments must be made through banks authorized by the Uganda Revenue Authority.
Candidates with grades X, Y, Z, 7, or 9 at O’ Level are not eligible for admission.
