Manchester City are determined to break their transfer record to sign Ajax starlet Frankie de Jong, according to Daily Star. The Holland International is a long-time target of Barcelona while Tottenham are reported to have offered £ 25 million last summer.

Italian giants Juventus also sent their scouts to watch the 21-year-old player a few time this season and also monitor his movements.

The price of the Dutch midfielder, however, has jumped to £ 71 million, a fee that Manchester City want to match in the summer to sign the player who could join the Cityzens and move back to Ajax on loan until the end of the season.
