Amama Mbabazi has urged graduates from the Law Development Centre to desist from unethical legal practices.
The Prime Minister was speaking at the 41st graduation ceremony of Law Development Centre on Friday 4th April.
The Prime Minister said the Law Development Centre is the premier training institution for lawyers that must devise means of promoting professional ethics in students. Adding that if one can not be a honest lawyer, he/she should be honest and not think of becoming a lawyer.
The Attorney General, Peter Nyombi also warned graduates on wanting to accumulate wealthy quickly through cheating clients.
” Be honest to your clients and do not aim at becoming rich early, just work hard for your country,” Nyombi told graduates.

A total of 505 students graduated with diplomas in Human rights, Law and Legal practice.

He also thanked the management of LCD for opening a 1,000 seater auditorium that will help the centre to accommodate more students.

He however, decried the high fail rate LDC. “We all used to pass exams at LDC those years, I’m wondering why students are failing nowadays,” Mbabazi asked?

He added,  “Students who fail at LDC should do so genuinely but not fail because of internal weaknesses at LDC.

Mbabazi advised LDC to consider training students in the new emerging areas of law such as oil and gas, environment and intellectual property on top  of the ones they are teaching now.
