Mugabi John (FDC) was yesterday night announced the new guild president of Kyambogo University.
Mugabi emerged victorious with 2931 votes, DP’s Owen Matte got 2155 votes, Ashaba Doreen with 1456, while Nicholas Bukenya got 379 votes.
Mugabi’s win is not only cerebrated by the Kyambogo students but also FDC party at large. Anna Adeke of FDC is the guild giant at the oldest institution – Makerere University.
His victory is thus a big blow to the ruling NRM party that has so far lost at the two public leading institutions in the country and their only hope is at Nkumba University, where their luck is yet to be proved.
Mugabi will be taking over from embattled Christopher Buni.
