Students at Mulago School of Nursing and Midwifery started a sit-down strike yesterday 7th May.

The student nurses and midwives refused to attend classes and instead sat on the floor with posters reading Mulago fails to pay electricity bills”.

The nursing students protested against poor sanitation and being in a blackout for a long period.  They claim their hostels have been facing power problems since 2009.

The Campus Times has learned that  Mulago School of Nursing and Midwifery has an outstanding power bill of Shs240 million.

Its not the first time these nursing and midwives students are striking over power problems. Last year students demonstrated over the same.
