The education sector is one of the most affected entities by the Covid 19 pandemic. As of when education institutions will start operating is still a mystery, companies have started cancelling internship intakes. Among these is Nation Social Securtiy Fund (NSSF). An official letter signed by the Managing Director Richard Byarugaba sent to students indicates that the internship which was meant to take place between June to August is called off.
“We regret to advise that due to the Covid 19 pandemic, we shall not take any interns in the june intake,” read part of the letter.
However not all hope is lost as he promised that they will have a plan in the near future.
Other organizations that have cancelled internships intake is one of Uganda’s leading newspapers New vision.
Through a Facebook post, the company noted that in an effort to keep communities safe and healthy in the Covid 19 pandemic, the internship programme scheduled for June-August 2020 has been cancelled.
