Pope Benedict XVI is to resign because of countless years.  The 85-year-old Pope will be the first head of the Catholic Church to step down in almost 600 years.

The Vatican has confirmed that Pope Benedict XVI is to resign on February 28, his spokesman Father Federico Lombardi revealed.

The Pope told his cardinals in a statement that he was resigning due to his health.

“Strength of mind and body are necessary, strength which in the last few months, has deteriorated in me to the extent that I have had to recognize my incapacity to adequately fulfill the ministry entrusted to me,” he said.

However, his action has not pleased so many though others have praised his move to resign.
