On 22nd March 2020 during the third presidential address, President Museveni abolished all travels in and out of Uganda as a preventive measure against the COVID 19.
This came after a confirm corona case of a 36-year-old Ugandan who arrived from Dubai on 21st March 2020 with a high temperature of 38.7 during screening at Entebbe International Airport.
Addressing the country, President Yoweri Museveni said starting 12:00 am on Sunday 22 March 2020, no passenger planes or human movement will be allowed into or out of the country.
The ban involves movement at the borders such as Kisumu, Busia, Mgahinga, and Muhavura among others.
He added that: “No person Ugandan or otherwise will be allowed to enter Uganda by land, water – except drivers of cargo vehicles. No buses minibusses, salon cars, Boda Boda, pedestrians on foot, people on bicycles. Nor will they be allowed to exit by these means.”
