The election, held on February 17, 2025, ushers in a new leadership for the UVCF, which represents heads of Uganda’s 54 accredited universities—11 public and 43 private institutions—that collectively serve over 200,000 students nationwide.

Prof. Waako, a pharmacologist, brings extensive experience in academic leadership to the role. The UVCF, established in 1997, provides a platform for university leaders to collaborate on challenges facing higher education.
