Job Title:     Registry Officer (No Experience Jobs) 

Organisation: National Environment Management Authority (NEMA)

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Senior Registry Officer

About US:

The National Environment Management Authority (hereinafter called “NEMA”) was established under the National Environment Act, Cap.153 in May 1995 and continued under the National Environment Act No.5 of 2019 as the principal agency for environment management in Uganda charged with regulating, supervising and coordinating all activities relating to the environment.

Job Summary: The Registry Officer will support effective management of the registry and records management function at the Authority

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and update registry, records and archives policy, database, manual and other systems;
  • Supervise the maintenance of active and semi-active records following the retention schedule and provenience standard;
  • Receive and classify documents and other records and maintain an inventory of records users;
  • Develop a file retrieval and tracking system;
  • Create and close files, replace old files and update registers in line with the filing procedures and the records manual.
  • Maintain a schedule for and carry out file weeding as well as transfer record for archiving;
  • Monitor receipt, classification schemes and the dispatch of mail to respective destinations; and
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold an honors Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of Library and Information Science, Records and Archives Management
  • Ability to work as a team;
  • High level of integrity;
  • Interpersonal skills and communication skills;
  • Reporting skills;
  • Timelines and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Computer literacy.

Staff of Uganda Police Force, Uganda People’s Defense Forces, Uganda Wildlife Authority and the Uganda Intelligence Services who have requisite requirements for the positions of Manager Environment Protection Force, Principal Environment Intelligence Officer, Principal Investigations Officer and Environment Protection Officer may respond to this Internal Advert for only the said positions subject to their internal clearance processes as appropriate.
