The 10 Week Summer Training at Uganda Technology and Management University ends

The Summer Training for the Agile Software Development course at Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) has been concluded.

The 10-Week course attracted 20 trainees from Makerere University, UTAMU, Kyambogo University, Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), Kampala International University (KIU) and KampaBits among institutions.

The training was aimed at empowering the youth through software and soft skills development particularly Leadership, Client Engagement and Business Communication.

The Manager for Engagement, Research and Innovation, Mr. Drake Patrick Mirembe challenged trainees to put to good use the knowledge and skills acquired in order to transform communities.

“I am glad to witness the first seeds of the Agile Software Development initiative. We expect them to nurture talent and reproduce nationally” he said.

The trainees lauded Uganda Technology and Management University and the ‘Flock of Birds’, a Netherlands based Design Firm which specializes in software development for giving back to the community through offering free software development skills to students irrespective of the institution they are from. The training was a brainchild of a partnership between the two.

The training which kicked off on 2nd June 2014 saw outstanding students awarded with job opportunities, I- pads and Certificates.
