UCU Kampala to start Shs10BN Construction

Uganda Christian University (UCU) will soon launch the construction of a three-storied building. The facility will have lecture rooms, computer laboratories and offices. It will cost sh10bn upon completion.

UCU three-storied building will be established on the newly purchased land situated in Mengo on Musajja Alumbwa Road just next to Eagles Nest Primary School.

The first phase of the building will have lecture rooms, a library, computer laboratories, cafe, offices and community center for community worship.

The second phase will be more of a student activity Centre with Guild offices, a gym, indoor games and entertainment center.

The third phase will be a post graduate center.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor Finance and Administration, Mr. David Mugawe told The Standard newspaper that preparations for the project are in high gear. The project is estimated to cost sh10bn.

Since 2003, UCU Kampala campus has been renting in four different places along Mengo Road near Bulange Palace spending sh45m monthly on rent. All offices on rented building in Mengo will be relocated to the new building.

Uganda Christian University (UCU) Kampala  guild president Mark Agaba, openly welcomed the plan.

He added  that newly purchased land is big enough to accommodate different projects that the university is planning.
