The Uganda Christian University (UCU) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi, received medical equipment and supplies worth 1.46 billion shillings.
The donations were made by UCU Partners, Midmark, a US Based supplier of dental equipment, and Medshare, a US humanitarian organization.
Prof. Mushengyezi said that the University will be committed to providing a complete education for a complete person and that in the next 4 years; the University will produce her first batch of sought-after dental and medical practitioners.
“You have no better university to send your child to train as a health practitioner. give us your children because he/she will get the right training.” he said.
Rev. Dr. John Kitayimbwa, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs said the University received 10 state-of-the-art Dental Suites, 12 Phantom Heads and other supplies which will be set up at the School of Dentistry, in compliance with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioner Council standards.
“Each dental student has a dental suite of his /her own and this means there’s a ratio of 1:1 which is unprecedented in this country.”
The Acting Dean of the UCU School of Medicine, Dr. Gerald Tumusiime said some of the equipment will be donated to Mengo Hospital, Namirembe Church of Uganda Mukono, Allan Galpin Health Centre and Mukono General Hospital.
