UCU Receives Shs8Billion Grant to Start New PhD Programme

Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono Campus received a grant of UGX 8.4 billion to start a new PhD programme in communication and media studies.

The university received a grant from the Norwegian Programme for Capacity Development (NORHED).

Professor Monica Chibata, the dean UCU school of journalism, media and communication urged media scholars to embrace the new programme upon its launch in September this year.

“I implore those in the media fraternity to take up the programme once it starts in September. We shall ensure that is is attainable at lower fees to suit the economic status of the region,” she said.

Professor Aaron Mushengyezi, the UCU vice chancellor said that the programme will help to improve research capacity of the university.

The PhD programme in communication and media studies comes in barely a year after journalism, media and communication department at UCU was granted a school status.
