Uganda, India Discuss Operationalisation of National Forensic Sciences University in Jinja

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, met with Indian High Commissioner to Uganda, Upender Singh Rawat, to discuss the operationalisation of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) in Jinja.

This campus marks India’s first international university and Africa’s first NFSU.

During the meeting, held at the Defence Intelligence and Security Headquarters in Mbuya, Kampala, Gen. Kainerugaba emphasized the university’s pivotal role in enhancing Uganda’s criminal justice system.

“This campus will help build forensic capacity for Uganda and other nations closely tied to India,” the CDF’s office stated.

Inaugurated in April 2023, the university focuses on forensic science, cybersecurity, homeland security, and related fields, offering academic programs, research, and the development of essential infrastructure to bolster justice delivery.

The meeting was attended by Maj. Gen. BD Mugisha, Commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC), and Brig. Gen. Paul Namawa, SFC Chief of Staff.
