Uganda Christian University (UCU) has appointed Mr. Vincent Kisenyi as the Acting Principal of UCU Mbale University College, effective June 20, 2025. The appointment was announced by UCU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi, as part of a leadership transition aimed at enhancing academic excellence and institutional growth.
Kisenyi, who also serves as Dean of the UCU School of Business, received the instruments of authority from the outgoing Principal, Dr. Erisa Mazaki Kigenyi, during a handover ceremony at the Mbale campus. The event was officiated by the UCU Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Rev. Prof. John Kitayimbwa, who represented the Vice Chancellor.
In his inaugural remarks, Kisenyi pledged to build on the legacy of his predecessor and foster teamwork across the College community. “We should work as a team and build on the wonderful work that Dr. Kigenyi has done here at the College. I look forward to working with each and every one of you,” he said.
Dr. Kigenyi, who served UCU for 14 years and became Principal in 2023, thanked the university’s top management for their trust during his tenure, especially through the post-COVID recovery period. He urged staff and students to support his successor. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve, and I appeal to all of you to rally behind Mr. Kisenyi as he leads the College to new heights,” he said.
Prof. Kitayimbwa commended Dr. Kigenyi for a successful term, highlighting his efforts in securing critical institutional land. “Dr. Kigenyi recovered and processed three land titles, safeguarding the College’s future. He also streamlined academic and financial systems and ensured compliance with National Council for Higher Education standards,” Kitayimbwa noted.
Dr. Kigenyi now transitions to serve with a government education regulatory agency.
As part of the handover process, the UCU delegation, which included Director of Human Resources and Administration Florence Nakiyingi and College Cabinet members, introduced Kisenyi to the Diocesan Bishop, Rt. Rev. John Wilson Nandaah. The Bishop welcomed the new Principal and pledged full Church support for the College’s mission.
“We appreciate the UCU management, led by Canon Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi, for identifying Vincent and sending him here to serve with us. We shall make sure to support him,” said Bishop Nandaah.
Prof. Kitayimbwa reaffirmed UCU’s commitment to theological education, noting that strengthening the Department of Theology at Mbale University College remains a top priority. He expressed confidence in Kisenyi’s leadership to drive this agenda forward.
The leadership transition marks a new chapter for UCU Mbale as it seeks to deepen its academic footprint and strengthen its role in community transformation.
