Dr. Ssegawa pledged the required commitment to the responsibilities of his office, and noted that there was “so much to do by the Council, Management and staff of the University”.

The dissolution of the 5th Council and inauguration of the 6th Council was overseen by the University Chancellor, Sir Gordon Wavamuno.

Dr Matovu who served as Chairperson of Council for nine years and steered the efforts towards the acquisition of the University Charter noted that during the tenure of the 5th University Council a number of notable achievements were made, including staff recruitment and development as well as infrastructural expansion of the University with the most recent being the acquisition of premises for the Kampala Campus.
