Job Title:Research Assistants (Several Vacancies)

Through continual monitoring of developments, African Energy has established itself at the forefront of informed commentary and analysis on this most vital of sectors for the continent’s future and as a leading provider of cartographical resources.
African Energy has a strong focus on emerging energy trends and the political risk issues that concern established operators, new entrants and the finance sector. Clients come to us for incisive and informed analysis on the issues, events, people and organisations that affect their businesses and interests.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Carry out literature reviews
  • Collect and analyze data
  • Compile and prepare materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations
  • Prepare materials for UW Human Subjects Committee review
  • Prepare interview questions
  • Recruit and/or interview subjects
  • Maintain accurate records of interviews, safeguarding the confidentiality of subjects, as necessary
  • Summarize interviews
  • Provide ready access to all experimental data for the faculty researcher and/or supervisor
  • Request or acquire equipment or supplies necessary for the project
  • Manage and respond to project related email
  • Prepare, maintain, and update website materials
  • Manage undergraduate students working on the research project (maintaining records on assignment completion, acting as liaison/mediator between the undergraduate students and the faculty researcher)
  • Attend project meetings
  • Attend area seminars and other meetings as necessary
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant must also hold a Good Bachelor’s degree
  • The applicant should be highly proficient in both spoken and written English
  • Possess good computer literacy skills i.e. competency in the use of Microsoft Office (in general)
  • The candidate should preferably hold a year’s experience
