Islamic University in Uganda gets National Social Security Fund best employers award

Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has for the second time in a raw won the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Best Employer’s Award for the eastern Uganda region.

IUIU emerged the regional overall winner having passed the 60 degrees compliance test set by NSSF in addition to beating the value contributed for financial year 2012/2013 threshold.

According to the National Socail Security Fund (NSSF) Nakasero Branch Manager, Horace Rwakabureete who presented the Award to the Rector and members of the University Management Committee here at the Main campus, Mbale, the award aims at recognizing employers who fulfill their social security obligations by making timely payment of all their employees’ contributions.

“From the national assessment carried out, it was observed that Islamic University in Uganda had met all the requirements of timely contributions and fully registered members; thus being compliant to their social security obligations”, Rwakabureete said.

“We are happy to inform you today that the university emerged the best employer in this region,” he added.

Mr. Rwakabureete said that by passing the 60 degrees compliance test, Islamic University in Uganda has consistently had all their payments made by the 15th of every subsequent month. This, he said, is a feat that mirrors the university’s level of professionalism and dedication to service.

Speaking after receiving the Award, the Rector thanked NSSF for recognizing the University for the second time and reiterated the University’s commitment to pay statutory dues on time.

He appealed to NSSF to always invest the contributors’ money in projects that do not contradict their religious teachings.

“We are happy with your assurance that our money is invested in projects that are compliant with the Islamic teachings. We pray that you continue doing so and always look out for products which do not contradict with our religious teachings,” Dr. Sengendo said.
