Job Title:  Revenue Officer

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Finance and Administration Manager

About US:

The Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) is the Institution that brings together all Professional Engineers in Uganda. It was constituted to promote the general advancement of the science and practice of engineering in Uganda.

Job Summary: The Revenue Officer will mainly be responsible for the day-to-day activities of revenue collection.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

    • In charge of the generation and prompt distribution of invoices
    • Tasked with the reconciliation of individual member accounts and other debtors
    • In charge of debt collection and reporting
    • Supervise the work of both the outdoor and the indoor staff of the Revenue function.
    • Steer implementing policies pertaining to revenue function
    • Tasked with the review of general collection accounts and delinquent unsecured and supplemental tax bills to determine which accounts require the initiation of collection and investigative actions; applies codes, procedures, and rules to determine feasibility of securing revenue; determines best methods of locating debtors; and determines and verifies debtors.
    • Interprets and explains bills to taxpayers and debtors
    • Investigate, evaluate, and analyzes financial statements related to debtor income, assets, and employment history in order to determine ability to pay.
    • Implements terms and methods of repayment
    • The jobholder determines when collection actions are to be implemented in collaboration with the accountant.
  • Gathers information and evidence to be used in civil and criminal proceedings to obtain liens, abstracts of judgments, and other legal actions.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, Marketing or equivalent
  • A minimum of two years of related working experience
  • Knowledge in QuickBooks is an added advantage
  • Impeccable level of integrity
  • Comfortable communicator
  • Understands how to overcome obstacles
  • Creative problem solving ability
  • Ability to balance empathy with collections
