Hima Cement Limited (HCL) is a cement manufacturer in Uganda. Hima Cement Limited is 70% owned by LaFarge, the construction materials manufacturer based in France. Hima Cement Limited is the second-largest manufacturer of cement in Uganda, producing an estimated 850,000 metric tonnes annually. The leading cement manufacturer in the country, Tororo Cement Limited, has a production capacity of over 1 million metric tonnes annually.
Job Summary: The Treasury Analyst will be responsible for activities such as forecasting & reporting on Hima treasury positions (liquidity, interest, foreign exchange, off balance sheet and so on) to support the process of decision making in the treasury function, as well as the posting and reconciliation of Hima bank accounts and actioning any accompanying transactions
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Key Treasury report preparation: Effective and efficient preparation of treasury reports (daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly) to support treasury decision making and for reporting to the Group SFA Reporting (for group accounts) and to Lafarge consolidation department via HFM.
Treasury forecast preparation: Effective and efficient preparation of treasury forex forecasts reports (weekly, monthly and quarterly) to support decision making and for reporting to Lafarge Central Treasury Department.
Bank accounts: Posting bank transactions for the respective bank accounts controlled at the respective head office including daily bank reconciliation of the active bank accounts and monthly bank reconciliations for all bank accounts.
Liquidity management: support the Treasury Manager to ensure adequate liquidity is maintained in the bank accounts at all times to cover the business needs.
Bank liaison: Has shared responsibility of liaising with the banks to follow up supporting details for transaction through the bank accounts, obtaining balances, etc. Preparation & facilitation of documents & instructions to banks e.g. deal instructions, transfers, guarantee applications etc
Dealing: Assist the Treasury Manager in dealing with authorised counter-parties for foreign exchange transactions, short term borrowing transactions, and short term deposit transactions and in short term SWAP transactions.
Petty cash: Supervisory role over petty cashiers including surprise cash counts and reviewing petty cash reconciliations for Hima Cement.
Sabox: Assist the Treasury Manager to ensure that SABOX controls in respective areas are designed and adhered to. This includes the controls surrounding cash & cheque collections & payments.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The candidate should possess a University degree in a business discipline such as Bachelor of Commerce, Business Administration or equivalent
  • Professional qualifications (CPA, ACCA)
  • At least two years’ experience preferably in a busy commercial environment or reputable audit firm.
  • Good knowledge and experience in spreadsheet applications and business systems.
  • Good working knowledge of SAP for FI/CO module, SAP banking within FI/CO SAP and treasury module within SAP.
  • Good knowledge of tax and IFRS
