Kampala University passes out 2,497

With the increasing unemployed rate in Uganda, Kampala University has passed out another group into the job search market.
On 28th February, Kampala University awarded degrees, diplomas and certificates to 2,497 students in different disciplines at their 10th graduation ceremony held at the campus promises in Ggaba.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Badru Kateregga is overwhelmed with the increasing number of students graduating from the institution.

“It’s a big achievement for Kampala University because we had our first  graduation in 2003 with only 130 students but today we are passing out more than 2000,” said Kateregga.

Kateregga said Kampala University admits students from different countries.  Out of the total number of graduands who were passed out on Thursday 26th,1072 were from Kenya, 52 from Somalia, 1120 were Ugandans and the rest from other countries.120 students graduated  with master’s degree and  out of these 19 were from Hope University in Somalia a partner University to Kampala University.

The best student,Vincent Ssekundi (B.Public Admin)  received a cash prize of Shs 500,000 while the best female graduate,Regina Nyamakaizi ( B. SWASA) pocketed Shs.300,000.

Prof. Edward Rugumayo,the Chancellor of Kampala University urged graduates to be innovative and create their own jobs due to limited government jobs.

In attendance were Rwandas ambassador to Uganda Maj. Gen. Frank Rugambagye, Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago, the Pakistan consul to Uganda Dr. Bonny Katatumba, Dons from other universities, parents among others.

He previously worked as a journalist with Observer media and authored several articles and stories. He does research, video & audio recording, editing and production for online publication. He Participated in The New Dawn photography campaign aimed at rebranding Northern Uganda-USAID/NUTI Project (2010). Philimon is in love with photography, writing, reading, sharing new ideas and interacting with reasonable people for skills development.
