Governor Okoth Obado, a prime suspect in the Rongo University student, Sharon Otieno murder, has been granted bail of  Kenyan Shillings 5 million cash.

The county chief is also expected to pay two sureties of a similar amount.

Kenya’s High Court Judge, Jessie Lesiit conditioned Mr. Obado to submit his travel documents before court to restrict him from going outside the country.

The governor has also been forbidden from going near the murder scene at the border of Migori and Homa Bay counties.

“The accused shall not go anywhere within 20km of Homa Bay-Migori boundary and the court has the liberty to cancel your bail at any time,” Justice Lessit ruled.

However, his co-accused Michael Oyamo (personal assistant) and Migori County Clerk Caspal Obiero bail applications were denied.

The suspects have in custody at the Kenya Industrial Area Remand Prison since his arrest on September 21 in connection with the murder of pregnant Rongo Sharon Otieno.
