Liberia president declares Free Education at public universities

President George Manneh Weah  has tasked all public Universities to offer free education to  all undergraduate students.

The president used his Facebook page to announce the development but did not offer a detailed explanation.

“Today, I’m excited to announce that I have declared the University of Liberia and all other Public Universities in Liberia tuition free for all undergraduates,” Weah wrote on Facebook.

If the declaration is effected, students from Liberia’s four public Universities; University of Liberia, UL, the Booker Washington Institute, Louis Arthur Grimes School of Law and the William V.S. Tubman University, will enjoy all their lectures for free.

The announcement comes shortly after the nation wide Students’ protests against hiking of fees.
