Makerere university will host Peter Mayiga, the Katikkiro of Buganda on 16th May 2014 as the university celebrates World Library Day.
Charles Peter Mayiga will be the Chief Guest at the Makerere University World Library Day 2014 celebrations, which will climax with willful contribution to the Ettaffaali by the Makerere University community.
The theme for this year’s celebrations “MakLib: A Knowledge Hub for Transforming Society”, highlights the synergies between libraries and societies in the creation and use of knowledge for socio-cultural transformation, as well as the changing role of Libraries and Librarians in view of the rapid technological developments and ever increasing users’ expectations.
The aim of this year’s celebration is to draw the attention of policy-makers, cultural institutions, library users, administrators and all stakeholders to the role that the Library plays as both a University and National Reference Library.
The occasion will also provide an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the advances and contributions made by the Library in as far as supporting the academic and research activities of the University are concerned.
