The Police have warned the public against wearing or dealing in camouflage clothing.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said joint security agencies continue receiving concerns over the selling of camouflage clothing by dealers in second-hand clothes.
Enanga revealed that in all operations they carried out, they observed that criminal gangs used the clothes for their robberies.
“In all operations carried out in the hotspot areas of Kyengera, Busega, Nateete, Nansana, Nabweru, Kawempe, Makindye and Mukono, we have recovered camouflage clothes being used by criminal gangs for robbery,” said Enanga.
He further warned: “We are taking a tougher stance once persons are found wearing or dealing in camouflage clothing in public.”
The law
Under the law, any person, who without authority, manufactures, sells, offers or exposes for sale, wears or uses any uniform resembling that of the Defence Forces, is on conviction liable to imprisonment not exceeding seven years.
