PSG Prepared to Sell Mbappe

PSG are prepared to sell France forward Kylian Mbappe

After Kylian Mbappe told Paris St. Germain that he will not be renewing his contract, the French club is willing to sell him this summer rather than take the chance of losing him for free in a year.

The current deal of the France forward expires at the end of next season, with an option for an additional year. Mbappe, 24, had until July 31 to tell PSG if he wanted to extend his contract until 2025.
After months of talks, he notified the club that he will not be joining.

PSG’s all-time leading scorer would be free to depart at the conclusion of the season, and the move may be an approach to negotiation.

However, as the French champions aim to adapt their team-building philosophy after years of buying great players without a clear strategy, PSG have vowed not to let Mbappe go for free, with the club unhappy that the letter was leaked in the public before they saw it.

It implies that until they receive assurances regarding the 2018 World Cup winner’s future plans, they will sell him, putting Europe’s top clubs on high alert.

Real Madrid has long admired the Frenchman, who turned down a move to the Bernabeu to stay at PSG last year.

Real Madrid require a striker with the departure of Karim Benzema to Saudi Arabia, however, it was previously assumed that Tottenham’s Harry Kane was at the top of their list.

Mbappe, who joined PSG in 2017 on loan from Monaco before signing for 180 million euros, has 212 goals in 260 games.

He has 38 goals in 68 games for France, including a hat-trick in last year’s final loss in Qatar.

Mbappe has been the top scorer in Ligue 1 for the last five seasons and has five league trophies in his six seasons at PSG.

PSG finished 2022-23 with just the Ligue 1 title after failing to win the Champions League yet again, this time losing to Bayern Munich in the last-16.

Mbappe would be the Parc des Princes’ second high-profile forward to leave this summer, following Argentina’s Lionel Messi, who left at the end of his two-year deal to join Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami.

Last season, Neymar, the third member of PSG’s superstar frontline, was linked with a big-money move to Saudi Arabia.
