Makerere university students have been encouraged to end the period of lent and begin the journey of solidarity with Jesus Christ through out the holy week.
Assoc. Prof. Rev father Deusdedit Nkurunziza said this during the Palm Sunday mass at St. Augustine’s chapel Makerer university.
He gave an example of the suffering which Jesus went through. “You are called upon to share the sufferings of Christ through prayer, repentance , seeking reconciliation, justice and transparency to obtain true peace,” Nkurunziza told students.
Palm Sunday is the beginning of the Holy Week of Easter where the Passion story heads into Jesus’ eventual crucifixion and resurrection.
On such a day, thousands of parishioners in churches across the world hold palm branches in the air to celebrate Palm Sunday services which mark Jesus Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
