Uganda Technology and Management University student shines at Headteachers Forum

Moses Wamanga, a 2nd year student at Uganda Technology and Management University (UTAMU) offering Bachelor of Information Technology raised UTAMU’s flag high during the eLearning Africa conference Seminar at Trinity College Nabbingo on Saturday 31 May 2014.

Wamanga addressed close to 2000 secondary school head teachers in Uganda and his message was mainly centred on e-learning platform.

He urged head teachers to install e-learning portals in their schools to enable teachers and students access online learning resources.

“I have had a chance to be trained by Uganda’s best computer scientists and I am glad to share the good news. Everyone can now learn both in class and online”, he boasted.

Wamanga gave head teachers insights on how to access current books, discuss, interact and share knowledge electronically.

“Learning today is more than just class work. Technology has made it possible for us to learn even when we are not in class and I think teachers in Uganda should not be left out”, he added.

He encouraged head teachers to embrace ICT to make learning more interactive and fun adding that the traditional way of learning where a teacher goes to class and dictates notes should be supplemented with technology to allow students discover more than what they are given in class.

Wamanga who attributes his success so far to UTAMU is also working with Kisubi Associated Writers Agency (KAWA), an organizations funded by the ministry of Education and Sports.
