Alcoholism Eating into Students Future

Cohabitation Is situation where two people are leaving together and normally have romantic sex without being officially married or the consent of their parents.

Cohabitation is a developing behavior at mountain of the moon university in fort portal city, western Uganda.

Robert a journalism student at Mountains of the moon university on Monday, 12 April 2021 talked to several student on the rising behavior of cohabitation in the university and this is what they had to say

Reasons for cohabiting

Mary a student from the school of agriculture who is practitioner, notes that cohabitation is often quite a tricky subject but it has reduced our expenditure in terms of rent and food.

Cohabitation has built trust among us because now am ever with my man she added.

Isingoma a third year Student praises staying with his partner because of the help they have given each other’s since they met.

Komuhimbo a second year student from the school of business criticize the practice, I want to stay alone even if I have a boyfriend because am still young and I want freedom free from him.

When you’re staying with him you can’t host your friend and have a free jazz outside with my neighbors because he would always be on my neck she added.

Because of security that’s why I don’t stay with my boyfriend Kabatembuzi told us.

How do you manage this?

Mwesige and Sharon who refused to be recorded praised each other for the help they render to each other, we have been together for two years illegally without our parents knowing but all of us thank God who brought us to be together.

He has helped me in paying my last semester’s tuition because of the challenges at home “Sharon added”

In addition Mary told us life is easy because she brings money and add to that one of his partner and buy something essential.

University/ Hotel policies on Cohabitation

Madam Basemera Doreen a dean in the School of Art and Social Sciences described hostels as private entities, where the university cannot reach to see what happens there, a mind university policies on cohabitation.

We have policies on our hostel regarding cohabitation, if you have your friend you are required to let him/her visit during the day only, “Adyeeri the hostel custodian at pearls of wisdom hotel” highlighted.

Recommendations on cohabitation

Madam Basemera Doreen a dean in the School of Art and Social Sciences told us that it is not good to cohabit if the parents are not informed about it.

And Adyeeri also added that it is bad to cohabit ethically due to the remedies you may get which are not prepared for.
