Former Makerere People Power Guild Presidential Aspirant Missing

Friends and family of the former Makerere University guild presidential aspirant, Mr Joshua William Mukisa, are puzzled after five days of not spotting their loved one.

The third-year Law student was last seen  on Friday night last week by a roommate, Mr Tadeo Nyakoojo, with whom he resides at Lumumba hall.

“I returned from reading, I kept my books and I went for supper in Kikoni. On my way, just at the hall entrance, I met him and I told him where I had put the key and proceeded for supper. That was the last time I saw him,” he said.

The roommate was however startled on his return at finding no Mukisa and his phone, placed on the table, was ringing repeatedly.

“When I returned, he was nowhere but his phone was on the table ringing. There were two contacts that were calling saved as Namuddu Milly and Emma. But I kept on muting the phone because I don’t usually pick people’s calls, of course, I thought he would return.” Nyakoojo said.

When the phone ringing persisted through the night and there was no sight of the owner, the roommate then decided to report the matter to the hall chairman who initiated a hunt for Mukisa.

According to the chairman, Elvis Omoit, they did not put up an extensive search thinking the former guild aspirant could have gone home for a visit since his small phone was also missing.

However, Mukisa’s father, Mr George Muzaale said he is equally as worried since his son is neither at school nor home and no one knows anything about his whereabouts.

“We last saw Mukisa during Easter break. But he looked unsettled. As parents, we asked him what was troubling him but he did not say anything. I asked whether he had debts because you know those are the ones that can destabilise a student but he said he hadn’t any,” Mr Muzaale said.

A confession from two of Mukisa’s friends however pointed to the unthinkable when they said that the latter confided that he could be having stalkers and had been receiving numerous threats the exact day he went missing.

Could the former guild presidential aspirant have been abducted?

“He called me and Spector on Friday to his room. When we reached, he told us he was receiving unknown calls from people who were threatening him. This was before he posted on his Facebook denouncing People Power [a political pressure movement championed by Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine,” Mr Kawooya said.

Could Mukisa have been a victim of political ambiguity? The facebook post has since been pulled down as Muzaale contends

“Because there is no reason as to why he shouldn’t be around especially for the paper if at all he is in control of his faculties,” a friend said.
