Government of Mauritius – Mauritius-Africa Scholarship Scheme 2023 Edition
The Government of Mauritius funding program is open to deserving students who are resident citizens of member states of the African Union or African Commonwealth countries who wish to pursue a bachelor, master’s, and PhD study.
The Higher Education Council (HEC) is happy to inform African students that through the Bilateral Cooperation with the Government of Rwanda, the Republic of Mauritius has offered scholarships per level of study for the academic year 2023.

It offers excellent programs at all levels and in many disciplines. Students have an opportunity to receive the Mauritius-Africa scholarship scheme, work placement opportunities, etc.
Eligible Countries: Member states of the African Union or African Commonwealth countries
Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for bachelor, master, and PhD study in any subject
Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
For undergraduate programs, applicants should be above 18 years of age and should not have reached their 26th birthday by 01 January 2024.
For PhD programs, applicants should not have reached 40 years by 01 January 2024.
Applicants must have already applied for a full-time on-campus program (Diploma, Degree, MPhil, or PhD) at a public Higher Education Institution in Mauritius (listed in Section 8 in the appropriate Guidelines for Applicants) for the academic year starting in 2023.
Applications, together with supporting documents as required, should be forwarded to the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Mauritius at the address mentioned below for a final selection.

Application letter addressed to the Director General of HEC
National ID or Valid Passport
Curriculum Vitae
One recent passport-size photo
Completed Application Form
Certified copy of Birth Certificate
Certified copy of bio-data page of passport
Certified copies of educational certificates and transcripts
Copy of letter of conditional offer by a public Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Mauritius (if available at the time of application) or a copy of acknowledgement notice from a Mauritian Public HEI that the application for a seat has been made and the appropriate application fee has been paid.
Medical certificate to be duly filled and signed by a registered Medical Practitioner in Section 6 of the Application Form. This should be appropriately stamped.
Study/Research plan for candidates opting for a Masters’s and Doctoral studies.
Supporting statement from a named supervisor from a University in Mauritius for PhD candidates.
The Government of Mauritius is awarding scholarships to support successful candidates in meeting their tuition fees and contributing to their living expenses during their studies in Mauritius.
Furthermore, the scholarship covers return airfare by the most economical route.
This will be valid for travel from the country of origin at the beginning of the studies and back to the country of origin upon successful completion.
