Gulu University appoints Ruhakana Rugunda as new Chancellor

Gulu University welcomes Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda as its new Chancellor

Former Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda assumes the role of Gulu University Chancellor following his installation on Friday 24th February by vice president Jessica Alupa and will be assisted by the University’s serving Vice Chancellor-Professor George Openjuru Ladaa.

With his appointment, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda joins the ranks of the previous two Chancellors of Gulu University, effectively becoming the third to hold the position.

In November of last year, President Yoweri Museveni appointed him as Chancellor to succeed Prof. Ian Bantubano Fredrick Kayanja, who had retired due to his advanced age.

After assuming the position of Chancellor in October 2014, Prof. Ian Bantubano Fredrick Kayanja, an accomplished veterinarian and academic administrator, relinquished his role in October of last year.
