Mirundi, who has been in and out of the hospital, breathed his last at around 1:00pm at Masaka Hospital on Tuesday, August 23.
“We say Inna Lillahi wa Inna ilayhi raji’un (from God we come and to Him we will return). We are greatly saddened by his death,” Lukwago told New Vision.
“He had a prostate problem and was recently operated on at Rubaga Hospital, but later his condition deteriorated,” Lukwago, who is also the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) deputy president in charge of the Buganda sub-region, stated.
He noted that his father was a strong pillar of the family.
“He worked very hard to see that I become a responsible person and also moulded many of my siblings into responsible citizens. He struggled to pay our school fees and was always there for us. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdaus (a high place in heaven),” he prayed.
Former FDC president Dr Kizza Besigye said on his Twitter handle that the news of Mirundi’s death was tragic.
“Inna Lillahi wa Inna illahi raj’un,” Besigye tweeted.
Mirundi will be laid to rest in Kabungo village, Masaka district (now Kalungu district) on Wednesday, August 24.
